A.Sønju|Multimedia Multidisciplinarian
Light, Shoot, Cut & Write
Welcome to my site, it is a work in progress (wysisowyg); I am learning as I go...

If you've got an interesting story to tell in an interesting way I'd like to work with you.
Though my background is cinematography and screen writing; I am interested in interactive narrative, and how technology applies to visual language.

The history of film shows the artists’ willingness to engage with emerging technology evident in the works of the early practitioners such as  Vertov , and  the Lumieres  who display a fascination with the camera as a mechanized tool, as well as the editing process. I see this curiosity continuing today through artists like  Jill Magid, Bromberg & Chanarin, in the more ‘commercial’ venue of new media, in form of podcasts such as  Cool Hunting; not to mention the evolving format of the video game. Multimedia and visual narrative are vectors of creativity and innovation, a platform for cultural dialogue. I believe that direct, open, honest communication is a necessity in any collaborative environment when faced with limited time and resources.

I am a recent  graduate of the  Centre for Digital Media  attending their Master's in Digital Media Program. During my time there I noticed as we have become more immersed in digital culture there is a need to define oneself in an increasingly 'binary' way. Even those of us that dabble in many forms of expression find it necessary to pick a 'brand' for oneself- and so, if I'm to pick one I'd say I'm a multi-media multi-disciplinarian. I have grown up writing and making mixed media collage (pastel, watercolour, paper, etc.), got into digital collage in high school, and have carried a camera around throughout. I think the traditional arts and ways of telling stories are every bit as important today as they were when our ancestors relied on story and images to teach and carry on their history.

All the photographs you see on this site are original works- let me know if you want prints.
